Admissions

Admissions usually start with contact from the referring
agency. If the person involved seems generally suitable
then they will be invited to come for a preliminary
visit of about an hour. Most often they are brought
by the referrer. This provides an opportunity for
the person to meet some clients and staff, gain an
initial impression of the place and ask some questions.
If they wish to proceed further they will be invited
for a 3 day visit as soon as a suitable place is in prospect.
This will give them a taste of communal living and will
also provide staff with the opportunity to carry out
an assessment. If a place is offered and taken up
this will be for a specified trial period in the first instance.

The age range on admission is usually from 18 - 40,
with exceptions made on the upper age limit. It caters
for people who want to engage in both long term (2+ years)
and short term ( 3 - 6 months) psychotherapy.
Initially, people engage on a short term contract of
3 - 6 months which, when reviewed, can be extended
into long term therapy if necessary. It is a condition
of membership that people take part in
the psychotherapy programme.

Connect operates a formalised complaints procedure,
a copy of which is available on request.

For sessional and group work or referrals, an initial
appoinment will be made with an appropriate therapist
for assessment. Self-referrals will ultimately need
professional sponsorship.
